We shape, impact, and advance good public policy.
We believe that by engaging and educating, we can work with key decision-makers at the local and state levels to make our health care system more inclusive, affordable, and sustainable.
CCMU relies on its Health Policy Committee to help determine its legislative priorities. With the combined perspectives of providers, clinic administrators, consumer advocates, and lobbyists, we have identified a variety of issues that impact the medically underserved, which we intend to focus on:
- Improving access to health insurance coverage and necessary health care services
- Strengthening and preserving programs and the workforce that serve the underserved
- Promoting health systems changes to improve access, affordability, and quality
- Supporting workforce development to ensure an adequate workforce to care for the underserved
- Addressing social determinants of health
Collaboration is key.
We participate in a number of collaborative groups in order to advance the policy conversation. All Kids Covered is a 5-year long collaborative effort engaging a number of partners across the state in reducing the uninsured rate among children in our state. The Connect to Coverage, Connect to Care Campaign is a collaborative focusing on ensuring very low income Coloradans without dependent children get health insurance coverage and care.
If you wish to listen and/or participate in any of these initiatives, please contact Aubrey Hill, Health Systems Analyst, at aubrey.hill@ccmu.org.
